Tech Tip #2 Stuck Print Jobs

For today's Tech Tip we will be talking about canceling print jobs. In Windows if you cancel a print job while it was printing or do something else to cause of the print job to display that its deleting print jobs, but nothing happens, and the printer just sits there. You could restart the computer and the printer will finish printing, but what if you don't want to print that 50 page document now. So to delete those stuck print jobs first open services. To open services you can do this a variety of ways. It is accessible through administrative tools, computer management, and Vista Search. So first click Control Panel (In Classic View), Administrative Tools, then click Services. Now scroll down until you see a service named Print Spooler, click the Print Spooler service, now click stop. Now that you have stopped the Print Spooler Service, go to My Computer, click your C: drive (or whichever drive has Windows on it). Click the Windows folder, then click the System32 folder, then click the spool folder, then click the PRINTERS folder. Delete the files with the proper time and date of the print job that needs deleted. Now that you have done that restart the Print Spooler service. You may need to restart your printer. If you have done all this properly the print job that you wanted to delete should have disappeared

In Windows XP it was easy to access network connections through the control panel, but in Windows Vista its a little more hidden. You can access it through the control panel, but for a quick and easy way I access it through the search feature in Vista. Just click the Start button, type ncpa.cpl in the search box and hit enter.

Microsoft still interested in Yahoo

Microsoft had took back its offer to purchase Yahoo, but it looks like they aren't ready to give up Yahoo yet. Microsoft is now considering some sort of a transaction with Yahoo instead of purchasing all of Yahoo. Hopefully Microsoft and Yahoo will finally come to some sort of agreement.
